Additional information

Unfortunately, I wasn’t accepted to Utrecht University to study veterinary medicine. I would like to try it again next year, but that means that I have a gap year now. Is it possible to work as a flight attendant during this gap year?

Hello Esmee,

Of course you could start working as a flight attendant, I don’t see the issue as you can always end your contract.

With kind regards,

Leon

Dear Leon,
What does a schedule for a beginner look like? Does it mostly contain short flights?

This is something I can’t completely explain, but you will start on the Boeing 737 and later on you will get an training for the Boeing 787 as well if you apply at the Netherlands, for other countries I don’t know their procedures.

Dear Leon,
Sorry for all the questions! I live in the Netherlands and would also be applying in the Netherlands. Is it also possible to work part time, and how much work should I be expecting then? The only thing thats holding me back is my pets at home.

Hello Esmee,
If you start working as a flight attendant you will start with a fulltime contract and later on you can get a parttime contract. We have a lot of colleagues who manage working and having pets or babies at home… Every week is another week with another schedule and other destinations some turn arounds some layovers and some standby duties.

With kind regards
