Hello Jayden
Thank you for your question -
At 16, you might be considered for a Retail Assistant Manager role - Our retail management team would take the following into consideration -
- Legal restrictions:
- You’re still classed as a young worker, so you can’t work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week, and you generally can’t work between 10pm and 6am.
- Until you turn 18, you must still be in some form of education or training, such as college, an apprenticeship, or part-time study while working.
- Experience and responsibility:
- Assistant Manager roles usually involve supervising staff, handling cash, and closing the store — tasks that often require being 18 or older due to both company policy and insurance or legal reasons.
However, it’s still worth applying or speaking directly to the hiring manager. They might:
- Discuss starting as a travel advisor apprentice or a (non-manager) role instead,
- Or consider you for part-time hours while you continue your education or training.
I hope this information was helpful - if you have any further questions , please feel free to get in touch.
Many Thanks
Dion
