I just got my destination as a Blue Star Service & Activity Host in Crete, so I'm really excited to start working soon! But I’m a little unsure what exactly it is I’m gonna work as. So I'm just wondering, what does a Blue Star Service & Activity Host do? Is it similar to a BLUE Guide?

Hi Mathilda,
First of all, I want to say big congratulations on your placement! Wow, Crete will be amazing!!
Blue Star is a label that has been around for many many years, and it is seen as a quality stamp by our Nordic guests. A Blue Star Service & Activity Host is a role in between the job role of a Hotel Rep and a BLUE Guide. Working for Blue Star means that you will primarily focus on our Nordic guests. You will host service hours and help guests when they need your support. You will make sure that every guest is having a brilliant time. Normally, the Blue Star service is provided almost all week long and in the Nordic languages. This is a great service for our guests and is one of the core selling points for Blue Star. No matter if the guests have an issue with the room, are not sure about what bus number is theirs, or even would like to book a ticket for one of the popular boat experiences. You are always there and ready to help.
Within Blue Star, you will also be hosting some activities. Some may be physical, like kubb or darts. Some may be digital, like virtual flag hunt or virtual bingo. It all depends on the hotel and the destination. What I really enjoy about Blue Star is that you can tailor it to what your specific hotel is like, and what your guests like to do. All Blue Star hotels differentiate from each other, and you will have the possibility to turn it into what is best for your guests. Blue Star is also about caring for the world and catering to different dietary requirements. This is normally very much appreciated amongst our Nordic guests.
Have an amazing summer, and don't forget to explore the beautiful island of Crete as much as you can! I wish you all the best!!
