Data Scientist
Hello Rohin,
What I appreciate very much is that the Data Scientists at TUI are fully involved in decisions concerning the ways of working and the tools that are used. The fact that the solutions for these issues come directly from the Data Science community in a bottom up way helps me a lot because I am working with an infrastructure that satisfies my needs as a Data Scientist very well. Furthermore, I think that our infrastructure has matured a lot in the last years especially when it comes to the optimal use of cloud resources. Since I as a Data Scientist was closely involved in the development of the infrastructure, my detailed knowledge about the tools has grown as well - which now gives me the flexibility to detect problems quickly and often without the help of a Data or Platform Engineer.
I also appreciate that especially in my closer environment of the company, a very good culture of dealing with errors and mistakes is lived. Failures that have been committed are usually discussed in a constructive way with the management and the focus is always on learning from the situation and on deriving strategies to prevent a repetition of the problem in the future.
As a last and personal point I have to say that I really love to work with vacation topics: our projects focus on providing customers with the most adequate journey for their holidays which is the time people typically look forward to the most. And I have to say that you feel this spirit of lightness also in the business, at least in the sense that colleagues tend to have a rather informal way of interacting with each other in their daily work.
