I have never experienced a colleague saying "no", when I reached out for help, because I didn't understand or know something or had difficulties managing my work. We are all one big team, and everyone keeps looking out for each other, which is something I really missed at my last workplace. Also I feel comfortable really showing myself the way I am. I do not have to act up a persona, to fit the company, but can really be myself, as well as the colleagues can be themselves. Don't put up an act and present yourselves the way you are. You won't regret showing your true colors.

What do you like about your job and the company?

Something I missed at my last job was the necessity to work internationally. We're structured in a very diverse talent aquisition community with close to 60 colleagues stationed all across of Europe. Pretty much all of my meetings take place via MS Teams and in English. Homeoffice and flexibility are not something, TUI offers, because it has to, but because it understands the changes in working environment and really does its best, to accommodate the employees needs. What I enjoy the most though is my personal growth, due to the many different projects I get to take part in, with colleagues, that really care for their work and enjoy their time at TUI. Everyone is happy to be at TUI and really takes charge, to make the best out of their work, which is quite an infectious mood and makes work just that much more enjoyable.

I am a late adopter for all things Social Media. Neither did I feel comfortable presenting myself there in the past. But Social Media is something, that is indispensable for the future of recruiting and HR-Marketing. I took my first steps on my journey from a lurker to a content creator and now create content, that I as well as my colleagues are really happy with.

Throughout my career I have had obstacles to overcome, sometimes I didn't succeed but I would use this to learn more and try again. I have learnt that the phrase 'try, try and try again' is real. I always have looked at where I want to be and developed a plan to get there, sometimes I have detoured from the route but that's ok, as long as I make it in the end. Believing I will drives me forward.

If you are in the early part of your career, my advice for you would be to keep your options much wider. You will be in a better place to identify your potential as you progress in your career, much similar to a practical experience as compared to the textbook knowledge. If you are already an experienced professional then my advice would be somewhat different. You should go after the job that doesn't feel like a job but something you love doing (... and then you never have to work again, as the quote goes). One of the important factors of loving what you do is to continuously learn new things because learning expands your limit of thinking and then the ability to organically take up new challenges. My other advice to anyone on the success path is to believe in self-potential. It is possible to achieve anything but only as long as we believe in our efforts and keep trying. If we don't fail then we didn't try, so it is perfectly fine to fail so long as we learn from failures.
