I studied travel and tourism in college and became an travel advisor
Following college and doing a cabin crew course I knew I want to work within the travel industry. I wasn't sure where abouts in the industry, but I knew I wanted to be somewhere. I applied to be an advisor back in 2019 and instantly clicked with my passion. This was something I could do day in day out and enjoy. Now, after being in this role for 3 years, I have learnt so much from the people I work with, from our customers and from the systems we use. It's like traveling the world from my desk in the UK. My knowledge in travel has grown extensively now, I can recommend places that I hadn't even heard of before. I'm more confident as a person, and in what I do. I feel like I've only just started my career path as there is still so much I want to achieve and build in my role.
I manage my team alongside my manager
I became third in charge for my old store, so I am just above travel advisor but below my manager and assistant manager. This role is the steppingstone to show I am ready to then progress up into a higher position. With my current position I have more responsibility to make sure my store runs smoothly and compliantly, and to help my manager and assistant manager with any workload they may need to delegate. This position gives me confidence that I am doing well in my position and that my colleagues are supportive in my progression.
I recently became assistant manager in a new store, and my previous role absolutely helped my step into this new role and growth within TUI.
The happiness in sending people on well-deserve holidays!
The happiness that is received when you've managed to book someone a long-awaited holiday or a family trip is so rewarding. I get so much joy out of sending people away for their holidays, whether it be a short or long holiday. Holidays are an exciting thing, so the excitement radiates around my job. You can be booking a family trip to Disney and have children overfilled with excitement or booking someone's relaxing honeymoon but still have that same joy from each conversation. The job is constant rush of happy hormones. Even when speaking to colleagues, those in my store or in the company, I feel those emotions are similar.
Be your best self!
Be who you want to be. I put the time in to build myself in my career and even now I am still growing. The support and help I've got around me means I have constant help to get me where I want in my career. Even if you don't want to progress up within your role, the support is there as and when needed. Happiness is key within a career, if you aren't happy in what you are doing then it's probably not a role for you. But when you are happy in your role then that will radiate off of you.
I was top seller last year of passengers and revenue.
Within my role I have targets I want to hit. Some months can be slower than others but setting yourself a target will give you the motivation to succeed. Last year I put more time into looking at my targets and how I could achieve them and how I can help my store and colleagues in hitting their targets. In setting this goal we achieved (as a team) the targets we needed. This is something as an individual and store we are proud of. It's an achievement in itself that I'm doing my best in what I do, but when the figures can also back that up it is an absolute positive!
