No matter the role you are applying for within TUI, just be yourself and bring your personality with you. We take a large cross section of the social community and of customers on holiday so equally its important that our colleagues and you feel comfortable in liaising and interacting with them. When I started in the role it was very different, where each crew member was like another but over the years and the transformation of TUI we have learnt that being different and unique is why our customers keep booking with us. Bringing you personality means you can interact in a way that customers enjoy, being respectful and professional does not mean you cant build a rapport and enjoy your working day with us. These skills will also enhance as you progress through your career with TUI, with each role allowing you to explore more about the differences we can make to our colleagues and customers.

Company

What do you like about your job and the company?

As a customer I know how important it is to receive excellent customer service, but also to be treated as an individual with every interaction. The role of a SCCM/CCM is to help deliver our TUI core values and ensure that each customer leaves the aircraft having the best flight they could to start/end their holiday. We are not just the route to get them to destination/home, we are the main contact where the customers spend their majority of their time with a TUI employee so we want to exceed their expectations to keep them coming back.

Greatest achievements

TUI has a large number of roles available to permanent crew but my greatest achievement is attaining the role of Cabin Crew Trainer within TUI Airways - within this role I can utilise the skills I have obtained over my years of experience and help delevlop crew to then deliver the same high standards onboard for our customers.

Working abroad was a huge step, working at sea was an even bigger one. I had moments at the start, where I thought I would never pass my STCW course (sea safety, fire fighting etc, a course that is required to work at sea) I ended up having to do the course 3 times throughout my career as it has to be renewed every 5 years. I never thought at the start of my career at sea that I would become an actual uniform wearing officer. What I mean by this is an officer in a white uniform with gold stripes (Epaulettes) on my shoulders - but I did when I became the Front Office manager onboard Thomson Spirit, what a massive learning curve I did it!

You need to be social in this role, many people are depending on you, but your performance are also depending on alot of other people. Building relationships, and creating strong contacts, internally in the company and with our partners are key to success. Always be curious, and update yourself on travel trends in the markets - somewhere there, might just be the perfect product for the future.
