From Apprentice to Specialist showcasing TUI as a great workplace
When I left school at 18 after completing my A Levels, I had no clue what I wanted to do next or when I 'grew up'. This is the reason why I chose not to go to university. Instead, an apprenticeship at TUI caught my eye. I loved holidays and the opportunity to learn something new, whilst earning a salary sounded great. That's when I joined the UK and Ireland Engagement and Internal Communications (E&IC) team and started my Level 4 Business Administration Apprenticeship. Alongside this, I got to join a real team with real responsibility. I was responsible for lots of projects and had opportunities to work with senior leaders and member of our Board. The apprenticeship really helped expand my skills and knowledge of how businesses work and what makes them successful. Once I finished my apprenticeship, I went for a promotion and became a Social Media Specialist within the Talent Acquisition team. All of the teams and people I have worked with at TUI are so supportive and want to help develop you to make you grow!
Social Media Specialist showcasing the amazing things about TUI
I'm a Social Media Specialist in the HR Talent Acquisition Team. I manage our @TUIJobsUK social media accounts - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. I also look after the UK and Ireland section of the careers website. I work with the recruitment team to showcase the roles that we're recruiting for to ensure we get some of the very best talent (like you) joining us. A massive part of my role is working with different teams to seek out content so I can share the very best about TUI. I do a lot of brainstorming for content as well as the actual creation of the content including designing images, taking part in photoshoots, filming colleagues, editing videos and pictures and writing engaging copy. I'm really passionate about TUI being a great place to work so it's easy to show externally why we're the best loved holiday company to work for!
Working with lots of different teams to attract the best people to TUI
There's so much great stuff that we do at TUI that makes it easy for me to create content for social media. No day is ever the same and there are so many different aspects about working at TUI that make it easy for me brainstorm new ideas. I love working with different teams and being a journalist seeking out stories to tell. It's really good being able to connect with different individuals as part of my role. This is made easier with our new technology that makes it easier to contact colleagues virtually no matter where they are working.
Always say yes!
I have always been an introvert, but working at TUI has helped me push myself. By volunteering to help on different projects and saying 'yes' to opportunities has meant that I have had the chance to work with so many different people and expose myself to different projects. This has enabled me to develop a larger skillset and helped increase my confidence. I'm always willing to try new things and think of different solutions which is key at TUI since we really value innovation. If you want to develop yourself and in turn, your career, then don't be afraid to push yourself outside of your comfort zone and say yes.
